Four Butler Students Honored at Phi Theta Kappa Ceremony

Boozer, Krom, Nelson and Tersol named to All-State Academic Team.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) held its annual All-State Academic Team Ceremony to celebrate this year’s award recipients in Topeka, Kansas, on Friday, April 11, 2025. Four members of Butler Community College’s PTK chapter were honored at the ceremony for being named to the prestigious All-State Academic Team (with hometown):
- Ella Boozer (Andover)
- Renee Krom (Wichita)
- Remington Nelson (Wichita)
- Brent Tersol (Wichita)
For earning All-State honors, students received a $300 stipend, a medal and a certificate of achievement.
Students were joined at the ceremony by family and friends as well as members of Butler’s administration, including Interim President Dr. Jackie Vietti, Vice President of Academics Dr. Barry Robinson, Associate Vice President of Student Services Dr. Jessica Ohman and Associate Vice President of Institutional Research and Effectiveness Dr. Aidan Dunleavy.
Chrissy Gifford, Butler’s PTK chapter advisor and Heartland Region Alumni Advisor for PTK, emphasized the importance of the students’ achievement. “Students in PTK are the cream of the crop at Butler, and they earned this by hard work and determination. It is totally worth celebrating,” she said.
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, founded in 1918, is the largest honor society for two-year colleges, with 1,285 college chapters in all 50 states and abroad. More than 3 million students have been inducted since the organization’s founding, with nearly 134,000 inducted annually.
